Miriam Cup, 1997, sterling silver and anodized aluminum, 10x12x12 inches
This cup is meant to suggest a papyrus flower emerging from the wavy waters - of the Nile, of the Red Sea, and of the spring of Miriam's well, which stopped flowing upon her death.
The cup with its rounded bottom cannot stand on its own. When removed from its base in the course of the Passover Seder, it must be passed from hand to hand until it is replaced.
